BUG: SQLMonitor Might Cause Access Violation As a Console App |

SYMPTOMS
When both SQLServer and SQLMonitor are started from the command line, SQLMonitor might generate an access violation when an user tries to see the tape directory from SQL Administrator after a scheduled backup. This only happens if the user schedules backup for at least 3 hours later.
WORKAROUND
Start SQLMonitor and SQLServer as NT services rather than console applications.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in SQL Monitor version 4.21. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
