Can't Read Buttons with Black Button Face

SYMPTOMS

When you use the Color icon in the Control Panel to change your button color in Microsoft Windows to black, you are not able to see the button text or pictures in Microsoft Project.



CAUSE

The Button Text color that you choose in the Color dialog box in Microsoft Windows is not used in Microsoft Project. Because the color of the text and pictures that appear on the buttons in Microsoft Project is black, you are not able to see any text or pictures on the buttons when you change the button color to black.



STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.This problem was corrected in Microsoft Project version 4.0.




MORE INFORMATION

Because the button pictures are graphics, they should not be affected by the button text color. However, the text on the buttons should appear in the button text color that you set using the Control Panel.

Steps to Reproduce Behavior

  1. Run the Windows Control Panel and double-click the Color icon. Choose the Color Palette button. From the Screen Element list, select Button Face. Under Basic Colors, select the Black color option. From the Screen Element list, select Button Text. Under Basic Colors, select the Light Gray color option. Choose OK.
  2. Run Microsoft Project.
  3. From the View menu, choose Define Views.
