MSQuery: Valid Settings for the .INI File for Microsoft Query |
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Query version 1.0
- Microsoft Excel for Windows, version 5.0
SUMMARY
When you install Microsoft Excel, the [Microsoft Query] section of the Msquery.ini file, which is located in the Microsoft Windows folder, will contain the following MSQuery-specific information (depending on the choices you make at the time you install the program):
[Microsoft Query] <---Heading Tutorial=0 <---Refers to Cue Cards AutoDisconnect=0 <---("0" = off, "1" = on) Query disconnects from back end when query window is closed.* Records=X <---Limits the number of records that can be fetched. tooltips=0 <---("0" = off, "1" = on)
Note that you cannot change the option for automatic query update by editing the .ini file.
- Does not apply to returning data to Excel with XLQUERY.XLA. The connection is always closed if you return data to Excel with XLQUERY.XLA, even though MS Query is still running."
The section of the .ini file following the [Microsoft Query] section will contain a list of all installed data sources. An example of this section is shown below.
