SUMMARY
Regardless of whether you choose to install the Quick Preview for PowerPoint for Windows, PowerPoint will ask you whether you want to run the Quick Preview, the first two times that you run PowerPoint.
Welcome to PowerPoint! Before you begin working, we recommend that you go through the animated Quick Preview for a brief tour of PowerPoint 4.0.
If you choose the OK button, PowerPoint will try to run a program called PREVIEW.EXE, which it expects to find in the same directory as the PowerPoint program file. If that file is not there, you will get the following error message:
PowerPoint could not locate or start the QuickPreview. It can be installed using PowerPoint Setup.
You will get the same error message if you choose the Quick Preview command from the Help menu if the PREVIEW.EXE file cannot be found at the expected location.
When you choose to do a Laptop (Minimum) installation of PowerPoint, the Quick Preview is not installed, but PowerPoint still asks if you want to run it the first two times that you run PowerPoint.

STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was corrected in PowerPoint for Windows 95, version 7.0.
