SUMMARY

Microsoft Project for Windows 4.0 allows you to record keyboard commands by choosing Record Macro from the Tools menu. However, if an error dialog box is generated while you are recording a macro, the same error dialog box may be displayed when you run the macro.

WORKAROUND

To eliminate the error dialog from being displayed when you run a macro, do the following:

  1. From the Tools menu, choose Macro and select the macro you want to run. Choose the appropriate macro, and then choose the Step button.

The Debug window is displayed showing the macro code in the lower half of the window. The first line of code is in a selection box.

  1. Press the F8 key to allow Microsoft Project to step into the line of code and run it. Continue to press F8, and note the line, or lines, of code that are selected just previous to the error dialog box being displayed.

  2. When the error dialog box is displayed, choose OK. Select the line of code that is causing the problem, and delete or modify the code to eliminate the error condition.

  3. from the Run menu, choose End, and then choose Macro from the Tools menu and run the macro again.
