Article ID: 112146

Article Last Modified on 1/22/2000

APPLIES TO

  • Microsoft Works 3.0 Standard Edition

This article was previously published under Q112146

SYMPTOMS

If during the installation of Works you choose not to install Cue Cards, you may receive one or both of the following error messages when you try to use a template:

Microsoft Works
Cannot start Cue Cards
Works cannot find the files required to run Cue Cards. Run Setup again.

-or-

Cannot find WORKSCC3.DLL.

The Setup program for Works provides the option not to install the Cue Cards. If you choose not to install Cue Cards, Works should not try to access them at a later time.

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Works version 3.0 for Windows. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.

MORE INFORMATION

By default, when you start a template, the option Show Instructions Cue Cards is selected. If you do not install the Cue Cards and if you do not disable the Show Instructions Cue Cards option, the error messages described above appear.

Normally, when you use a template, Works displays Cue Cards that provide instructions and tips on how to use the template. If you choose not to install Cue Cards, Works tries to locate them when you later try to use a template.
