1. Q. How can I translate my PowerPoint 4.0 for Windows presentation
to PowerPoint 3.0 for Windows?
A. PowerPoint 4.0 has the ability to save a presentation in the
PowerPoint 3.0 file format. Choose the Save As command from the
File menu, and select PowerPoint 3.0 from the Save File As Type
list.
Because PowerPoint 4.0 contains many new features that do not
exist in PowerPoint 3.0, features that are unique to PowerPoint
4.0 will be lost if you save a presentation in the PowerPoint
3.0 file format. The following five features are some of the items
that may be lost when you save a PowerPoint 4.0 file in the
PowerPoint 3.0 format:
1. Embedded fonts are not preserved.
2. Dashed and dotted lines are converted to solid lines.
3. Rotated PowerPoint objects do not remain rotated.
4. Hidden slides do not remain hidden.
5. Rotated text does not remain rotated.
2. Q. How do I convert my PowerPoint 4.0 for Windows presentation to
PowerPoint 4.0 for the Macintosh?
A. A PowerPoint 4.0 for Windows file can be opened by PowerPoint 4.0
for the Macintosh directly, without prior translation. However,
some features are not converted. For example, QuickTime for
Windows is not converted to QuickTime for the Macintosh.

3. Q. How do I convert a PowerPoint 4.0 for Windows presentation to
PowerPoint 3.0 for the Macintosh?
A. To convert a file from PowerPoint 4.0 for Windows to PowerPoint
3.0 for the Macintosh, perform the following two-step process:
1. Save your Windows PowerPoint 4.0 presentation as a Windows
PowerPoint 3.0 file.
2. Open the Windows PowerPoint 3.0 presentation directly in
PowerPoint 3.0 for the Macintosh.
4. Q. How do I convert a PowerPoint 3.0 for the Macintosh presentation
to PowerPoint 4.0 for Windows?
A. PowerPoint 4.0c for Windows can read PowerPoint 3.0 for the
Macintosh presentations directly. If you do not have PowerPoint
4.0c, call Microsoft Product Support and have PowerPoint 4.0c sent
to you at no charge. You may also use one of the two following
methods to convert these files:
Method One
----------
Perform the following three-step process:
1. Open your PowerPoint 3.0 for the Macintosh presentation in
PowerPoint 4.0 for the Macintosh.
2. Save the file in the PowerPoint 4.0 for the Macintosh format.
3. Open that file in Windows PowerPoint 4.0.
Or, perform method two.
Method Two
----------
Do the following three-step process if you do not have PowerPoint
4.0 for the Macintosh but you do have PowerPoint 3.0 for Windows:
1. Open your Macintosh PowerPoint 3.0 presentation in PowerPoint
3.0 for Windows.
2. Save it in the PowerPoint 3.0 for Windows format.
3. Open the Windows PowerPoint 3.0 presentation directly in
Windows PowerPoint 4.0.
5. Q. How do I convert my PowerPoint 4.0 for the Macintosh presentation
to PowerPoint 4.0 for Windows?
A. PowerPoint 4.0 for the Macintosh files can be opened directly by
PowerPoint 4.0 for Windows, without prior conversion or
translation. However, some features are not converted. For
example, QuickTime for the Macintosh is not converted to QuickTime
for Windows.
