SUMMARY

The Word Processing module in LotusWorks versions 1.0 and 3.0 supports import and export of ASCII text only. Therefore, if you want to use information from a LotusWorks word processing document in Word for Windows, Word for the Macintosh, or Word for MS-DOS, you must export it as ASCII text and open it into Word as Text Only or MS-DOS Text Only.

The LotusWorks spreadsheet module saves spreadsheets in Lotus 1-2-3 version 2.x WK1 format by default. You can open WK1 format files directly into Word 6.x and later for Windows (provided you have installed the Lotus 1-2-3 converter) and you can link WK1 files into a Word for MS-DOS document in the same manner as any Lotus 1-2-3 file.

Exporting a LotusWorks Word Processing Document as ASCII Text

  1. In the LotusWorks word processing service, choose F10 (MENU) File Transfer Export.
  2. In the File field of the File Transfer Export dialog that appears, type the ASCII file name you want to create.
  3. Select Export.

Importing an ASCII Text file into the LotusWorks Word Processing Service

  1. If using Word for MS-DOS or Word for the Macintosh, save your document as Text Only. If using Word for Windows, save your document as MS-DOS Text Only (since LotusWorks is an MS-DOS application).
  2. In the LotusWorks word processing service, choose F10 (MENU) File Transfer Import.
  3. In the File field of the File Transfer Import dialog that appears, type the name of the text file you saved from Word.
  4. Select Import.
  5. To save the file in the LotusWorks word processing service native .LWD file format, choose F10 (MENU) File Save.
