Windows Write Converter Enhancements in Word 6.0a for Windows |
Q110677
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Word for Windows, version 6.0a
SUMMARY
Included below is a summary of corrections made to the WRITWIN.CNV converter used by Word 6.0a to convert documents between Word and Windows Write versions 3.0 and 3.1. All corrections listed here have been made since the immediately previous Word 6.0 product release. Corrected problems include:
Paragraph Numbering Appears as Greek Symbols in Windows Write
When you save a Word 6.0 document as Windows Write format, in paragraphs originally numbered using the lowercase alpha paragraph numbering option in Word [for example, a), b), c)], all numbering characters appear as Greek language characters in Write. This occurs because the Symbol font is incorrectly applied.
This problem was corrected in Word 6.0a.
Embedded Objects Do Not Appear in Word
When you open a Windows Write 3.1 document containing an embedded object without a windows metafile display image into Word 6.0, no result may appear in Word. To update the object, you must choose to view field codes and then select the appropriate OLE Server application from the Edit Object dialog box.
This problem was corrected in Word 6.0a. An adjustment has been made to the converter to place an empty windows metafile placeholder in the converted document so that you can easily select and double-click to update.
GP Fault in Round-Trip Conversion from Write and Back to Word
When you save a Word 6.0 document as Windows Write format and then reopen the document into Word, you may receive a general protection (GP) fault.
This problem was corrected in Word 6.0a.
