3-D Graph Pie Chart Prints Incorrectly to QuickDraw Printer

PSS ID Number: Q109981 Article last modified on 03-07-1997

====================================================================== 3.00 5.00 MACINTOSH kbole

The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Graph for Macintosh, version, 3.0 and 5.0 - Apple Macintosh System, version 7.0, 7.0.1, 7.1 and 7.1.2

SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft Graph, if you create or import a chart in an application such as Word for the Macintosh and you print the chart to a Quickdraw printer, lines extend out of the pie pieces in a three-dimensional pie chart when printing to a QuickDraw printer.

CAUSE

This occurs with a pie chart created in Word’s Graph module and formatted with the 3-D Pie Chart Gallery option 4, the All Slices Exploded option. The problem most often occurs with pie charts that have been resized disproportionately, so the width is greater than the height.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Graph version 5.0 and earlier for the Macintosh. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.

WORKAROUND

To correct the problem, reduce the width of the pie chart so it is proportional to the height:

  1. Click the graphic to select it.
  2. Select the middle handle on the right edge of the graphic and drag it to the left (in Word 5.1, hold SHIFT before selecting and dragging the graphic handle).
