------------------------------------------------------------------- The information in this article applies to: - Microsoft Publisher versions 2.0 and 2.0a ------------------------------------------------------------------- SYMPTOMS ======== When you open a document in Publisher that was created in a word processing program (for example, Word for Windows) and saved in landscape orientation, the document will appear on the screen in landscape orientation, but will print in portrait orientation. In addition, although the document will appear in landscape orientation on the screen, both the Print Setup and Page Setup dialog boxes will indicate that the document is in portrait orientation. RESOLUTION ========== To work around this problem: 1. From the Edit menu in Publisher, choose Print Setup and select Landscape under Orientation. -or- 2. From the Page menu in Publisher, choose Page Setup and select Landscape under Choose An Orientation. The document will now print correctly. STATUS ====== Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Publisher versions 2.0 and 2.0a. This problem was corrected in Publisher version 3.0 for Windows 95. STEPS TO REPRODUCE PROBLEM ========================== 1. Create a new document in Word for Windows 6.0. 2. From the Format menu, choose Page Setup. 3. Choose Paper Size and select Landscape. Choose OK. 4. Save the document as a normal Word for Windows 6.0 document and exit Word for Windows. 5. Start Publisher 2.0 or 2.0a. 6. From the Startup menu choose Open an Existing Publication, select Word for Windows 6.0 from the List Files Of Type list box, and load the Word for Windows document. Although the document will appear in landscape orientation on the screen, Page Setup and Print Setup will be set to Portrait orientation.
