SYMPTOMS

When you run Windows NT on an AMI Enterprise III that has more than 64 MB of RAM, only the first 64 may be recognized. As Windows NT loads, NTDETECT reports only 65536K (64M) (this value is displayed at the top of the blue screen as Windows NT loads).

CAUSE

This problem is caused by memory that has not been configured properly with the EISA configuration utility.

RESOLUTION

According to AMI Technical Support, some EISA utilities are shipped with the motherboard, but you will need a specific EISA utility to properly configure the memory in the EISA CMOS. The necessary file (SER68CFG.ZIP) can be downloaded from the AMI BBS at (404) 246-8780.

For additional information, call AMI technical support at (404) 263-8181.

The Enterprise III is manufactured by AMI, a vendor independent of Microsoft; we make no warranty, implied or otherwise, regarding this product's performance or reliability.
