SYMPTOMS
You may encounter general protection (GP) faults if you run Encarta on a system with a video card that uses a Cirrus/Logic chipset. These problems occur if you are using a video mode of 256 colors or more.
If you print using 12-point Lucida Sans (the default font) to an Epson or Panasonic 24-pin printer, you may receive the following error message:
Application Error ENCART94.EXE caused a General Protection Fault in module EPSON24.DRV at xxxx:xxxx.
where xxxx:xxxx is the address of the memory conflict.
If you are running Windows in a large fonts video mode, you may receive the following error message immediately after starting Encarta:
Application Error ENCART94.EXE caused a General Protection Fault in module DMCOLOR.DRV at xxxx:xxxx.
where xxxx:xxxx is the address of the memory conflict.
NOTE: These problems also occur in Bookshelf 1993 and Cinemania 1994, but currently there are no corrections for those applications.
RESOLUTION
There is a maintenance release of Encarta available that corrects this problem. To obtain this release, Encarta version 1994 1.0a, contact the Microsoft Sales Information Center at (800) 426-9400.
