SYMPTOMS
When you use the Hewlett-Packard (HP) DeskWriter driver 3.9 to print envelopes in Microsoft Works, the driver does not reset the printer to request paper from the regular paper tray.
After printing envelopes that must be fed manually, you might open the Page Setup dialog box, select US Letter, and send a new job to the printer. Page Setup may look fine, but the printer will not reset and will not pull paper from the tray. The printer waits for something to be fed under the rollers.
RESOLUTION
To reset the printer you may:
Use an earlier driver and select US Letter.
Turn off the printer and turn it back on.
If a job has been sent, but not printed, turning off the printer may cause the computer to stop responding (hang) or the application to quit unexpectedly.
To properly reset your printer after printing envelopes using the HP DeskWriter driver 3.9:
- From the File menu, choose Page Setup.
- Select US Letter as your Media Size.
- Turn off the printer.
- Turn on the printer.
- Send a print job to the printer.
