MS-DOS 6.2 DoubleSpace Drive Too Fragmented to Mount PSS ID Number: Q103540 Article last modified on 11-02-1993 PSS database name: O_MSDOS

MS-DOS

The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft MS-DOS operating system version 6.2

When DoubleSpace attempts to automatically mount a DoubleSpace- compressed drive at startup and the drive is too fragmented to be mounted, DoubleSpace automatically increases the MaxFileFragments setting in the DBLSPACE.INI file and restarts the computer. If you then manually unmount the DoubleSpace-compressed drive, MaxFileFragments is reset to the default value (112). As a result, you cannot remount the drive manually.

To work around this problem, press CTRL+ALT+DEL to restart your computer and then defragment your DoubleSpace-compressed drive.
