SYMPTOMS
Repeatedly starting and stopping a mainframe terminal session from within Attachmate Extra for Windows on a bridged token ring network can cause errors in Extra (510) and eventually will hang Windows.
CAUSE
During this sort of activity, the AC field on the token ring packets can sometimes be set to an unexpected value of 90 hex. This is a reserved value that MSDLC is not designed to handle.
RESOLUTION
Microsoft has provided a fix in Patch 1 for LAN Manager 2.2 which simply masks out the unexpected AC bit.
