When you run a file with the extension .REG to register a new file type in File Manager, File Manager does not update any file icons and it does not refresh its directory windows.

When new file types are registered in this manner, File Manager does not generate any notification messages.

There are two methods to work around this situation:

  • Close File Manager and reopen it.

  • Choose Associate from the File menu to assign a file type to a file extension. File Manager updates its directory windows.
