INTRODUCTION

This article contains support information for Western Australia daylight saving time (DST) changes in 2007 and in 2008 for Microsoft Office Live Meeting 2007 and for Microsoft Live Meeting 2005.

MORE INFORMATION

Western Australia is running a three-year trial program for observing DST. In the first phase of the trial program, DST was observed from December 3, 2006, to March 25, 2007. In the second and third phases of the trial program, DST will be observed from Sunday October 28, 2007, at 2:00 A.M. to Sunday March 30, 2008, at 2:00 A.M. standard time (3:00 A.M. DST).

The time zone updates that were released for Windows Server, for Microsoft Exchange Server, and for Microsoft Office Outlook include the changes for Western Australia. However, the Live Meeting time zone update that was released on March 2, 2007, does not include the changes for Western Australia. Therefore, existing Live Meeting sessions that were created in the (GMT+8:00) Perth time zone and Live Meeting invitations that were sent to participants in the (GMT+8:00) Perth time zone will be incorrect by one hour.

To work around this issue, change the Live Meeting time zone from (GMT+8:00) Perth to (GMT+9:00) Osaka, Sapporo, Tokyo. To do this, follow these steps:

  1. On the My Home page, click User Preferences under Manage.
  2. On the User Preferences page, click (GMT+9:00) Osaka, Sapporo, Tokyo in the Display Options section, and then click OK to save the user preferences. Live Meeting will use these preferences for future meetings.

After you change the time zone, examine any preexisting meetings that are scheduled to begin or to end on March 25, 2007, or before March 25, 2007. Then, adjust any start times or end times if you have to. Additionally, send updated Live Meeting invitations.

When DST ends for Western Australia at 2:00 A.M. standard time (3:00 A.M. DST) on March 28, 2008, change the time zone back to (GMT+8:00) Perth. Then, examine preexisting meetings that were created while the time zone was set to (GMT+9:00) Osaka, Sapporo, Tokyo. Adjust any start times or end times if you have to. Then, send updated Live Meeting invitations.
