SYMPTOMS

Consider the following scenario:

  • You connect a webcam to a computer that is running Windows Vista.
  • In the webcam's Properties dialog box, you change settings on the Camera Control tab or on the Video Proc Amp tab.
  • In the webcam's Properties dialog box, you click Cancel. Or, you close this dialog box without saving or applying the changes.

In this scenario, the settings that you have changed are saved.

Note This problem also occurs on computers that are running Windows Server 2003 and Windows XP.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because a module of the DirectShow component does not process the cancel instruction correctly.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
