SYMPTOMS

Consider the following scenario. You install the Korean version of a 2007 Microsoft Office suite or of a 2007 Office program on a Windows Vista-based computer that has the locale set to Korean. Additionally, Microsoft Office IME 2007 is set as the default input language. In this scenario, you receive an access violation error message in module Imjkapi.dll when you try to install hotfix 929550 or any Windows update. Additionally, the hotfix or updates do not install successfully.

CAUSE

This problem occurs when you try to install hotfix 929550 or any Windows update after you install the 2007 Office suite or program.

RESOLUTION

How to obtain the hotfix

This issue is fixed in the Input Method Editor (Korean) 2007 Hotfix Package that is dated July 7, 2007. For more information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, use one of the following methods:

Method 1

Install hotfix 929550 before you install the 2007 Office suite or the 2007 Office program.

Method 2

Change the default input language to the Microsoft IME for Korean (Korea).

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
