SYMPTOMS

You are running Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 in a heavy-load environment that uses Outlook Web Access. In this environment, the Microsoft Exchange Information Store service stops unexpectedly. Additionally, the following event is logged in the System log: Event Type: Error
Event Source: Service Control Manager
Event Category: None
Event ID: 7011
Description: Timeout (30000 milliseconds) waiting for a transaction response from the MSExchangeIS service.

RESOLUTION

Hotfix information

Prerequisites

Because of file dependencies, this hotfix requires Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 Service Pack 2 to be installed on the server.

Restart requirement

You do not have to restart the computer after you apply this hotfix. However, the following services are stopped and then restarted automatically when you apply this hotfix:

  • The Internet Information Services (IIS) Admin Service and all dependent services
