INTRODUCTION
This article describes how to assign the Microsoft Windows XP Sleep function to one of the Favorites keys on one of the Microsoft keyboards listed in the "Applies to" section.

To add the Sleep function to a Favorites key, create a desktop shortcut. Then assign that shortcut to a Favorites key.
Create a desktop shortcut
- Right-click the desktop.
- Click New Shortcut.
- In the Type the location of the item box, type rundll32.exe powrprof.dll,SetSuspendState.
- Click Next.
- In the Type a name for this shortcut box, type Sleep, and then click Finish.
Assign the shortcut to a Favorites key
- Click Start, click Run, type main.cpl keyboard, and then click OK.
- Click the Key Settings tab.
- Click the Favorites key that you want to change.
- Click Edit, and then click Browse.
- Click My Desktop, and then click the shortcut that you created.
- Click Open, click Finish, and then click OK.
- Restart the computer.
