SYMPTOMS
Consider the following scenario. You try to open or to save a 2007 Microsoft Office document in one of the programs that is listed in the "Applies to" section. The file uses the Open XML file format that is new to the 2007 Microsoft Office system. In this scenario, you may receive one of the following error messages:
CAUSE
This issue may occur if one of the following conditions is true:
- You install a file awareness update that is dated May 19, 2006. But you do not install the Microsoft Office Compatibility Pack. To resolve this issue, install the Compatibility Pack. To do this, use one of the following methods:
- Click Yes when you receive one of the messages that are mentioned in the "Symptoms" section.
