Article ID: 918839

Article Last Modified on 5/31/2006

APPLIES TO

  • Microsoft Outlook Express 6.0
  • Microsoft Windows XP Professional
  • Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition
  • Microsoft Windows Storage Server 2003
  • Microsoft Windows Storage Server 2003 R2

SYMPTOMS

On a Microsoft Windows Storage Server-based computer, you send a Storage Report by using e-mail. However, when recipients open the Storage Report by using Microsoft Outlook Express on a Microsoft Windows XP-based computer, the images do not appear in the report. Instead, a red X appears for each image in the report.

CAUSE

The problem occurs because when you use Outlook Express to open the report, the images are not correctly copied to the temporary folder.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, use Microsoft Outlook to view the Storage Report. Alternatively, follow these steps to view the Storage Report in Outlook Express:

  1. In Outlook Express, open the e-mail message that contains the Storage Report.
  2. On the File menu, click Save Attachments.
  3. Specify a location for the Storage Report, and then click Save. For example, save the attachments to a folder on the desktop.
  4. On the File menu, click Save As. Click Yes if you receive the following error message:

One or more of the pictures in this message could not be found. When you send this message these pictures will not be included. Are you sure you want to send this message?

  5. In the Save as type box, click HTML files (*.htm;*.html).
  6. Save the e-mail message as "Storage_Report_name.htm." Save the e-mail message in the folder where you previously saved the Storage Report attachments.
  7. Close Outlook Express, and then open the folder that you previously specified for the Storage Report.
  8. Double-click the Storage_Report_name.htm file.
