SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft Windows Embedded for Point of Service (WEPOS), the Encrypting File System feature does not work.

When you click to select the Encrypt contents to secure data check box, you receive an error message that resembles the following:

An error occurred applying attributes to the file:

Drive:\file_name

The specified module could not be found.

CAUSE

This problem occurs if the Feclient.dll file is missing in WEPOS.

The EFS feature is included with the NTFS file system. To locate the Encrypt contents to secure data check box, follow these steps:

  1. Right-click a file or a folder, and then click Properties.
  2. On the General tab, click Advanced.
