Error message when you try to delete a contact in Microsoft Dynamics CRM: "An error has occurred in the script on this page"

SYMPTOMS

You may experience the following symptoms when you use Microsoft Dynamics CRM:

  • When you use the Related Records view to show related opportunities, sales orders, quotes, invoices, cases, contracts, or activities, the records in the Related Records view are duplicated or shown out of order. This issue may occur when there are more records than can fit on one page.
  • When you try to delete a contact, you receive the following error message:

    Internet Explorer Script Error
    An error has occurred in the script on this page.
    Line: 148
    Char: 1
    Error: Access is denied
    Code: 0
    URL: http://URL
    Do you want to continue running scripts on this page?

    In this case, the contact is not deleted. Additionally, the following error message is logged in the Microsoft CRM Server Application event log:

    Event Type: Error
    Event Source: C:\Windows\System32\Inetsrv\W3wp.exe
    Event Category: None
    Event ID: 1000
    Date: date
    Time: time
    User: N/A
    Computer: computername
    Description: The description for Event ID ( 1000 ) in Source ( c:\windows\system32\inetsrv\w3wp.exe ) cannot be found. The local computer may not have the necessary registry information or message DLL files to display messages from a remote computer. You may be able to use the /AUXSOURCE= flag to retrieve this description; see Help and Support for details. The following information is part of the event: w3wp.exe, 6.0.3790.1830, 42435be1, crmobjectmodel.dll, 3.0.5300.0, 4360a298, 0, 003c7c3c.
