SYMPTOMS

When you use Adobe Acrobat Reader 5.x or an earlier version of Acrobat Reader to open a Portable Document Format (PDF) file in Windows Vista, the MS Gothic font and the MS Mincho font appear garbled.

CAUSE

Windows Vista uses new MS Gothic and MS Mincho fonts that Acrobat Reader 5.x and earlier versions of Acrobat Reader cannot read correctly.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, upgrade to Acrobat Reader 6.0 or to a later version of this program.

Note Version 7.0 of this program is named Adobe Reader 7.0.
