How to identify the version of an installed copy of Accounting Professional, of Accounting Express, or of Small Business Accounting

INTRODUCTION

This article describes how to identify the version of Microsoft Office Accounting Professional, of Microsoft Office Accounting Express, or of Microsoft Office Small Business Accounting that is installed on the computer. This article also provides version numbers for the original release and subsequent releases of the product, and for the service packs for the product.

To determine the version of the installed copy of Accounting Professional, of Accounting Express, or of Small Business Accounting, use one of the following two methods.

Method 1: Use the Add or Remove Programs dialog box

1. Click Start, click Run, type appwiz.cpl, and then click OK.
2. In the Add or Remove Programs window, select the appropriate product.
3. Click the Click here for support information link.
   

A message box displays the correct version information for the product that was recorded by Microsoft Windows Installer.

When you use this method, Small Business Accounting provides the following version numbers for the original release and for the service pack releases:

Microsoft Office Small Business Accounting
Original release version                1.0.2912.1
Service Pack 1 (SP1)                    1.0.3223.1

Method 2: Verify the version property for the executable file

1. Click Start, and then click Search. The Search Results window opens.
2. In the Search Companion pane, click All files and folders.
3. In the All or part of the file name box, type SBA.exe, and then click Search.
   

Note The name of the executable file for Small Business Accounting is SBA.exe.

1. In the result pane on the right, right-click the SBA.exe file, and then click Properties.
2. In the SBA.exe Properties information window, click the Version tab.

Note The default location for the SBA.exe file is on the following path:

C:\Program Files\Microsoft Small Business\Small Business Accounting
