APPLIES TO

  • Windows Media Format 9.5 Software Development Kit x64 Edition

SYMPTOMS

In an application that was built by using the Microsoft Windows Media Format 9.5 Software Development Kit (SDK), the metering challenge may not be valid when the application calls the GetMeteringData function. When this problem occurs, you may receive the following error message:

DRM_E_INVALID_METERING_CHALLENGE (0xC0042929) - The metering challenge is invalid.

CAUSE

This problem may occur if the individualization process occurs immediately before the metering challenge is issued. The metering data may be incorrectly signed by using the wrong certificate. This behavior causes a signature validation error.
