SYMPTOMS
When a client application such as Sqlagent.exe tries to connect to a local computer that is running Microsoft SQL Server 2000, a memory leak in the client process may occur. This problem occurs when the client process uses the Dbmslpcn.dll shared memory network library version 2000.80.828.0.
RESOLUTION

WORKAROUND
To work around this problem, use a network library other than the shared memory network library. To do this, use one of the following methods:
- Create an alias in the client network utility.
- Specify the connection string to use the tcp:servername server name parameter or the np:servername server name parameter.
