SYMPTOMS
After you apply the security update that is mentioned in Microsoft Security Bulletin MS04-032 on a computer that is running Microsoft Windows XP or on a computer that is running Microsoft Windows 2000, you experience the following symptom. You can no longer enumerate 16-bit programs that are configured to run in separate NT Virtual DOS Machines (NTVDMs).
Note This problem occurs only if you set the following registry value to yes:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\WOW
Value name: DefaultSeparateVDM
Value type: REG_SZ
Value data: no (default)

CAUSE
This problem occurs because of the security changes that are included in the security update that is mentioned in Microsoft Security Bulletin MS04-032. This security update no longer allows for the enumeration of 16-bit programs that run in separate NTVDMs.
