SYMPTOMS
You cannot read e-mail messages in Microsoft CRM Sales for Outlook (the Outlook client) when the following conditions are true:
- The e-mail messages were received in the Outlook client.
- The e-mail messages are encoded in one of the following character sets:
- KOI8-R
- KOI8-U
- ISO 8859-5 Cyrillic
However, you can use the Outlook client to read e-mail messages that are encoded in these character sets when the following conditions are true:
- The e-mail messages were received in Microsoft Outlook.
- The e-mail messages were then promoted to the Outlook client.
RESOLUTION
Microsoft Business Solutions CRM has a fix for this problem that is part of a cumulative update. The cumulative update information is described in the following Microsoft Knowledge Base article:
