SYMPTOMS
If you shut down a Microsoft Windows 2000 Service Pack 3-based or Service Pack 4-based computer, the computer may stop responding (hang), and you may receive the following error message:
CAUSE
This problem occurs because the Event Log service stops before Windows can write an audit trail entry in the Security event log for the shut down event.
