SYMPTOMS

A computer that is running Microsoft Windows 2000 may stop responding when you add or remove a network drive. When this problem occurs, you may receive the following Stop error message:

STOP 0x93

The message may indicate that the error occurred in Win32k.sys.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because the Graphics Device Interface (GDI) subsystem does not correctly initialize a desktop handle. The handle is closed when a network drive is added or removed.
