APPLIES TO

  • Microsoft Windows 2000 Server
  • Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional Edition
  • Microsoft Windows 2000 Advanced Server

SYMPTOMS

You perform one of the following operations on a Microsoft Windows 2000-based computer:

  • You perform a Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) connection operation to a certification authority (CA).
  • You perform an LDAP bind operation to a CA by using LDAP Secure Sockets Layer (LDAPS) port 636.

The operation is completed successfully, even though the CA is not in the Windows 2000 LDAP client trusted root store. For example, the operation is completed successfully when you use the Ldp.exe tool.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because the Windows 2000 LDAP client accepts the certificate by using LDAPS even though the CA is not trusted.
