Excel: Screen Size Should Be Constrained When Opening Lotus File

Last reviewed: July 16, 1997
Article ID: Q86292

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Excel for Windows, version 4.0

SYMPTOMS

When you open a Lotus 1-2-3 in Microsoft Excel, if you are using a large screen or a high-resolution monitor, you may not receive the results you expect when you attempt to run Lotus macros that are dependent on the Lotus standard of a 20-row page.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because, in Microsoft Excel, a big-screen or high- resolution monitor can display more than 20 rows on the at a time. When you open the same file in Lotus 1-2-3, the file displays only 20 rows.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, adjust the screen size before you run Lotus 1- 2-3 Macros. This process is described on page 36 of "Microsoft Excel for Windows Switching to Microsoft Excel from Lotus 1-2-3".
