INTRODUCTION
This article describes the Microsoft Outlook 2002 issue that is fixed in the Outlook 2002 post-Service Pack 3 hotfix package that is dated May 14, 2004.

Issues that are fixed in the hotfix package
The following issue is fixed in this hotfix package, but was not previously documented in a Microsoft Knowledge Base article:
- When you use a COM add-in in Outlook 2002 that uses a Microsoft Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) macro that starts a hidden session of Microsoft Word 2002 and adds text to an outgoing e-mail message, the first e-mail message is sent correctly. However, when you try to send a second or subsequent e-mail message, you receive the following error message:
If you then try to quit Outlook 2002, Word 2002 becomes visible and you receive the following error message:

Prerequisites
- The optimized version of this hotfix is a post-Microsoft Office XP Service Pack 3 (SP3) hotfix. To install the hotfix, you must have Office XP SP3 installed.

- The optimized version of this hotfix requires Microsoft Windows Installer 2.0 or later.

- The full-file version of this hotfix is also the administrative version of this hotfix. You can install this version of the hotfix with Office XP Service Pack 2 (SP2). However, we have not tested this fix on Office XP SP2 to the same extent as on Microsoft Office XP Service Pack 3. If you install this hotfix on a computer with Office XP SP2 installed, some file conflicts might occur. We support this configuration, but we do not recommend this configuration.
