CAUSE

This problem may occur when the service pack installation cannot update certain files that are used by the other services that are running on the computer. The other services may use Open Database Connectivity (ODBC).

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, stop all the services that are running on the computer and that may use ODBC, and then install the Analysis Services service pack. To make sure that all the services are stopped, follow these steps:

  1. Change the Startup Type of the following services to Manual:
    • Antivirus services
    • FTP Publishing service
    • Internet Information Services (IIS) Admin service
    • Microsoft Operations Manager (MOM)
    • Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) service
    • SQL Server services, including the MSSQLServer service
    • Terminal Services
    • Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) service
Note This list may not include all the services that may cause this problem.
  2. Restart the computer.
