SYMPTOMS

If you click Search on the Start menu in Microsoft Windows Small Business Server 2003, you receive the following error message:

Cannot find '::{e17d4fc0-5564-11d1-83f2-00a0c90dc849}'. Make sure the path or Internet address is correct.

Additionally, you experience all the following symptoms:

  • If you click OK in the error message box, the Search Results dialog box appears. However, it does not have a title.
  • If you enter an item to search for and then click Search, you receive this error message again.
  • If you click OK again, you receive the following error message:

    Unexpected Error
    Action could not be completed.

    However, Windows searches for the item or the items that you specified.


CAUSE

This problem occurs if you install the cumulative security update for Microsoft Internet Explorer MS03-048 that the following Microsoft Knowledge Base (KB) article describes:

Microsoft scanned this file for viruses. Microsoft used the most current virus-detection software that was available on the date that the file was posted. The file is stored on security-enhanced servers that help to prevent any unauthorized changes to the file.

Prerequisites

You must have the cumulative security update for Internet Explorer that Microsoft security bulletin MS03-048 describes installed to apply this update.

Restart Requirement

You must restart your computer after you apply this update.

Hotfix Replacement Information

This update replaces the cumulative security update for Internet Explorer that Microsoft security bulletin MS03-048 describes.
