- Microsoft Host Integration Server 2000 Service Pack 1
SYMPTOMS
After you apply Service Pack 1 for Microsoft Host Integration Server 2000, a handle leak may occur on systems that run applications that use the Host Integration Server 2000 Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) provider. If you use a tool such as Task Manager to monitor the handle count of the system WMI process (WinMgmt.exe), you may notice a steady increase in handles over a period of hours or days.
CAUSE
This problem occurs because an earlier fix causes a regression. Specifically, the fix for the Host Integration Server 2000 WMI provider that is included in Host Integration Server 2000 Service Pack 1 causes the regression.
