SYMPTOMS

When you open or edit a template in any one of the Microsoft Picture It! 2002 programs listed in the "Applies To" section of this article on a Microsoft Windows XP-based computer, you may receive either of the following error messages:

PIP.EXE has encountered errors and needs to close
AppName: PIP.EXE ModName: GDI32.DLL


PIP.EXE has encountered errors and needs to close
AppName: PIP.EXE ModName: NTDLL.DLL

CAUSE

This behavior may occur if the Windows XP profile information has been corrupted.

Note This error was also re-created when retrieving pictures off of a floppy disk that had become corrupted.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, you must create a new user profile.
