SYMPTOMS

When you use Active Directory Migration Tool 2.0 to migrate users from a Microsoft Windows NT domain to a Windows 2000 forest, one or more of the following symptoms may occur:

  • The computer stops responding.
  • You receive the following error message:

    Access Violation in LSASS.

  • The computer restarts.


CAUSE

This problem may occur if both of the following conditions are true:

  • The Lsass.exe process is running on the server and is under a lot of stress.
  • A script runs that sets the pwdlastset attribute of machine accounts.
