SYMPTOMS

Some e-mail messages may remain in the Queues folder of a Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) virtual server and the messages are not sent until the SMTP service is restarted on a Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server computer.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because the SMTP connection is unsuccessful and some messages are skipped and remain in the Retry queue instead of being merged into the general queue.
