SYMPTOMS

When Microsoft Windows 2000 quits unexpectedly as a result of a Stop error and when an error message then appears on a blue screen, Savedump.exe may incorrectly indicate in the system event log that the Windows memory dump file (Memory.dmp) was successfully saved.

Note Savedump.exe writes memory data from the paging file to Memory.dmp when Windows encounters a Stop error and then quits unexpectedly.
