Mouse Does Not Function Correctly When You Use the Virtual Network Computing Client to Control a Guest PC

SYMPTOMS

The mouse may not operate as expected when you use the Virtual Network Computing (VNC) client to control a guest PC.

CAUSE

This issue may occur if the Virtual PC Additions are not installed on the guest PC.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, install the Virtual PC Additions on the guest PC:

  1. Start the operating system on the guest PC.
  2. On the PC menu, click Install/Update Additions.
  3. Read the license agreement. If you agree to the terms of the agreement, click I agree to the terms on this license agreement.
  4. Click Next, and then click Next again.
  5. Click Finish when the installation has completed, and then restart the guest PC.

Note You can install the Virtual PC Additions in the following guest operating systems:

  • Microsoft Windows 95
  • Microsoft Windows 98
  • Microsoft Windows Millennium Edition
  • Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 with Service Pack 3 (SP3) or later
  • Microsoft Windows 2000 with Service Pack 2 (SP2) or later
  • Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition or Professional
  • Microsoft Windows Server 2003
