SYMPTOMS

The Microsoft Exchange Information Store may stop responding on a Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server computer or a Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 computer that uses multiple processors.

Note This problem has only been reported on computers that have several processors, typically around eight processors. This problem has also been reported on computers that use four Intel processors that use Hyper-Threading Technology.

RESOLUTION

Hotfix information

A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Only apply it to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix may receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next Exchange 2000 Server service pack that contains this hotfix.
