SYMPTOMS

When you try to use a Navman e Series Global Positioning System (GPS) device with Microsoft Streets and Trips or Microsoft MapPoint 2002, you may see that the device is not detected by the computer.

CAUSE

This issue occurs because the GPS device does not automatically create a communications (COM) port. Instead, the GPS device creates a virtual COM port. Streets and Trips and MapPoint do not recognize the virtual COM port.

To resolve this issue, download and install the most recent drivers for your GPS device. For more information about the most recent GPS driver software, visit the appropriate Web site for your GPS device.
