SYMPTOMS
When you connect a Sony iLink CD-RW DVD-ROM IEEE 1394 combination drive to your computer, you may receive a "Stop" error message on a blue screen that is similar to the following:
After you restart the computer, the Stop error does not recur.
CAUSE
This issue may occur if all of the following conditions are true:
- You are running Windows 2000 Service Pack 4 (SP4).
-and-
- You install Windows Media Player 9 Series on the computer.
-and-
- You connect the iLink CD-RW DVD-ROM IEEE 1394 drive to the computer.
This issue occurs in the third-party Cdr4_2k.sys file that is distributed by Microsoft in Windows Media Player 9 Series.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this issue, contact Roxio to obtain the latest plug-in update. To do this, visit the following Roxio Web site and search the Roxio Knowledgebase for article PLG000001:
