SYMPTOMS

If you add an additional mailbox to view in your Outlook 2002 folder list, when you click the Calendar folder of the additional user, two new task folders may be created.

CAUSE

This problem may occur if the mailbox owner who you added has completed all the following:

  • Has given you Publishing Author permissions in their Outlook Today folder.
  • Has given you Review permissions or Author permissions in their Calendar folder.
  • Has given you Review permissions or Author permissions or Folder visible permission in their Inbox folder.
  • Has not given you permissions to their Tasks folder.


RESOLUTION

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was first corrected in Office XP Service Pack 3.

MORE INFORMATION

To add an additional mailbox to view, follow these steps:

  1. On the Tools menu, click E-mail Accounts.
  2. Click View or change existing e-mail accounts, and then click Next.
  3. Select Microsoft Exchange Server, and then click Change.
  4. Click More Settings.
  5. On the Advanced tab, click Add.
  6. In the Add mailbox box, type the e-mail name of the user who you want to add, and then click OK.
  7. Click OK to close the Microsoft Exchange Server dialog box.
  8. Click Next, and then click Finish.

To view the mailbox that you added, the owner of the mailbox must follow these steps:

  1. Right-click the Outlook Today folder, and then click Properties.
  2. On the Permissions tab, click Add.
  3. In the Names view, add the user who has added your mailbox, set the permissions level to Publishing Author, and then click OK.
  4. Right-click the Calendar folder, and then click Properties.
  5. On the Permissions tab, click Add.
  6. In the Names view, add the user who has added your mailbox, set the permissions level to Author, and then click OK.
  7. Right-click the Inbox folder, and then click Properties.
  8. On the Permissions tab, click Add.
  9. In the Names view, add the user who has added your mailbox, set the permissions level to Author, and then click OK.
