SYMPTOMS

After you create a rule in Microsoft Outlook to move received e-mail messages to a folder, if the rule contains an exception that prevents the message from moving to the folder if the message is from a specified user, the message is still transferred to the specified folder.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because the user that you specified as an exception is contained in the Global Address List (GAL).

RESOLUTION

Hotfix information

This hotfix should be applied to domain controllers that the Microsoft Exchange server and clients are using. A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that this article describes. Apply it only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem.
